  4. Glass & Reticle: Clarity, color cast, edge distortion, parallax behavior, emitter quality; dot sizes (e.g., 2–6 MOA) and multi-reticle options.
  5. Controls & Ergonomics: Button placement, click feel, lockouts, and ease of adjustments under stress.
  6. Size & Weight: Slide mass impact for pistols, balance on carbines/shotguns, and holster/optic-cut compatibility.
  7. Co-Witness & Height: Lower 1/3 vs. absolute for long guns; suppressor-height sights for pistols when relevant.
  8. Support & Value: Warranty, customer service, common spare parts, and price-to-performance over time.

How We Test & Verify

  • Hands-on installs on the exact gun (or analogous platform) to confirm footprint, screw spec, and plate fit.
  • Live-fire sessions to check tracking, zero retention, brightness range in sun/low light, and recoil response.
  • Abuse checks within reason (rain/sweat/dust exposure) and routine knocks to assess real-world resilience.
  • Community signal from trusted instructors, armorers, competitors, and verified buyer comments to see how optics age after thousands of rounds.
  • Ongoing updates—when a new revision fixes a flaw or a better option emerges, our guides reflect it.
